National Fireworks safety month is June brings information and awareness about the hazards associated with using fireworks. Fireworks are used for family gatherings, barbeques and fourth of July parties and can pose quite a few dangers if used unsafely.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, each year 10,000 people are injured due to fireworks. The National Fire Protection Associated states more than 19,500 reported fires are started by fireworks annually.
Safety tips to keep in mind for preventing firework injuries at your next gathering:
- Never allow young children to play with or ignite fireworks.
- Always have an adult supervise fireworks activities.
- Never place any part of your body directly over a fireworks device and back up to a safe distance immediately after lighting fireworks.
- Never try to re-light or pick up fireworks that have not ignited fully.
- Never point or throw fireworks at another person.
- Keep a bucket of water or a garden hose handy in case of fire or other mishap.
- After fireworks complete their burning, douse the spent device with plenty of water to prevent a trash fire
